Dans le monde de la grammaire, il existe deux formes bien distinctes : la forme négative et la forme affirmative. Et quand on est en CM2, comprendre ces deux formes peut parfois sembler un peu compliqué.
La Forme Affirmative : Quand le Sujet Est Clair
Commençons par la forme affirmative, celle qui est beaucoup plus simple. C’est la forme qui exprime l’action du sujet sans aucune négation. Par exemple, “Le chat mange la souris.” Dans cette phrase, le chat est le sujet, il mange la souris, et rien n’est nié.
La Forme Négative : Quand le Sujet N’est Pas Clair
Maintenant, parlons de la forme négative. C’est celle qui exprime l’action du sujet, mais en niant quelque chose. Pour créer une phrase négative, on ajoute “ne” ou “n'” devant le verbe et “pas” après le verbe. Par exemple, “Le chat ne mange pas la souris.” Dans cette phrase, le chat est toujours le sujet, mais il ne mange pas la souris.
Comment Choisir la Bonne Forme
Maintenant que vous connaissez les deux formes, il vous faut apprendre à choisir la bonne. Si vous voulez exprimer une action positive, utilisez la forme affirmative. Si vous voulez exprimer une action négative, utilisez la forme négative.

Pour vous aider à mieux comprendre, voici quelques exercices :
- Choisissez la forme correcte pour compléter la phrase : “Le chien (manger / ne manger pas) l’os.”
- Écrivez la forme négative de la phrase : “Les enfants jouent dans le parc.”
- Identifiez la forme utilisée dans la phrase : “La voiture ne roule pas.”
- Réécrivez la phrase suivante en utilisant la forme affirmative : “Les élèves ne font pas leurs devoirs.”

Sujet + ne/n' + verbe + pas
Pour former une phrase négative en CM2, il suffit de suivre cette règle :
- Sujet + ne/n’ + verbe + pas
Voici quelques explications :
- Sujet : C’est la personne, l’animal ou la chose qui fait l’action.
- ne/n’ : C’est la particule négative. On utilise “ne” devant les verbes qui commencent par une voyelle ou un h muet, et “n'” devant les verbes qui commencent par une consonne.
- Verbe : C’est l’action qui est faite.
- pas : C’est la négation. Il sert à nier l’action du verbe.
Voici quelques exemples :
- Je ne mange pas de viande.
- Tu n’as pas fait tes devoirs.
- Il ne viendra pas à la fête.
- Nous ne sommes pas contents.
- Vous n’avez pas de chance.
- Ils ne savent pas nager.
